Blogs in Education

Other than following a friend's posts regarding her son's experiences as he went through cancer treatment (which was successful!), this is my first experience with blogging.  I found setting up and designing a blog site simple and look forward to enhancing the site as time allows.

How can educational leaders use blogs?  With staff buy-in to the adventures of blogging, I can foresee great possibilities in new ways of communication and feedback loops.  To introduce staff to the world of blogging, one must begin with educating staff and setting an example.  I would start by using the blogging video we viewed, followed by posting my weekly bulletin for staff to read and respond with questions. Because often people have the same questions, this could actually become a time saver.  For staff it would mean more opportunities to interact with other grade levels and cross curricular.  For the educational leader it would offer opportunities for a greater understanding of the big picture as more staff become involved.
By setting an example of blogging, the simplicity of it,  as well as the value of communication, I would hope staff would begin using technology more in teaching as well as parent communication.
