Internship Plan Review with Site Supervisor

Between the weather and budget issues, time with my site supervisor is extremely limited, so our conference was brief but purposeful.  During the conference we primarily discussed my strengths and areas for improvement when reviewing my plan.  We were very much in agreement on these areas.  My strengths fall in the areas of building relationships and trust, developing common visions, leading staff and creating leaders within the school.  Coming from a non-academic classroom (band directing), I must continue to develop a more detailed understanding of the curriculum and essential units of study for each grade level.  As a part of my plan I will be spending significant time with our executive director of school curriculum.
Although I have been very involved with board meetings in the past, with the most recent budget concerns and jobs on the line, she has suggested that I pay close attention to the processes the district goes through during this time.  Other areas where I lack an in-depth understanding of the crucial processes and operations are plant operations, food services and transportation.
Over all, my site supervisor felt my internship plan was thorough and covered areas of strength as well as created opportunities for growth in areas for improvement.  She encouraged me to continue with my personal portfolio, improvement plans, and my internship plan.

  1. Hi Sheri, I too was grateful that I could meet with my site supervisor as this is a very busy time for them as you mentioned. I like that you were able to discuss your strengths as well as your areas to grow in. We did not get the opportunity to do that. My supervisor also commented on the activities where I planned to observe some of the budget and planning processes the executive cabinets across that state of Texas are going through. She agreed that this is a good time to learn and watch problem-solving and planning at the district level.

  2. Super ideas on where to go with weaknesses and strengths. I plan on getting similar views from my supervisor.
