Competency Review Reflectioin

I am excited about the possibility of becoming a superintendent.  It will be the peak of my professional career.  It is the light at the end of my tunnel! I am very passionate about education and maintaining a culture of continuous learning with a student focus.  Although I have much to learn, I have had many past experiences that will attribute to my success as a superintendent.  I believe in life-long learning through both book-like learning and experiential learning, and I believe that this learning can be gained from all sources with which one comes in contact.
My greatest strengths are the ability to build relationships, creating a collaborative, vision focused culture, a positive attitude with high energy, and my desire to be a life-long learner.
My weakness is finding tolerance for some of the ridiculous laws and hoops that we are required to jump through in education.  I must force myself to not move too fast and always look at the legal repercussions of my decisions.  I do these things, but sometimes find it painfully frustrating.  I need to also broaden my knowledge regarding school finances and facility planning.

  1. Love it. It is also scary to know that a job like this is lonely at the top. Thank God for a super cohort for support and collaberation.
